As mentioned in our first post, we’re two warm-hearted and sometimes wacky Seattlites who recently left our day jobs to hit the road once again. We spent our first year of marriage traveling the world and we always said we’d do it again. Fast forward seven years, and we finally got the opportunity (or took the opportunity) to give it another try.
So, for Round Two of the Gruvold Globetrotting Adventure (or the Tenuver Travels, take your pick), we’re heading to Latin America, a part of the world we’ve never been to, but always wanted to see.
What do we hope to “get” from this trip? What do we hope to accomplish? What does success look like? What are our “goals”?
Well, those are great questions, and ones we’ve pretty much decided not to answer. Not yet at least.
The best answer we can give you for now is that we hope to be kinder than necessary to each other and those we meet along the way, we hope to not always take the easy way out and to accept the challenges that pop up with a sense of humor and grace and humility, we hope to laugh a lot, and we hope to be open to meeting the amazing people the world has to offer. Oh, and we also hope to eat some really good food, and to learn some Spanish. (So I do have one real goal: I hope to be able to swear like a Spanish sailor by the time we get back home.)
That’s us in a nutshell. Email us at katie (dot) gruver (at) mail or gtenold (at) gmail. We’re also on skype.
I know your Grandma Nita will want swearing tips from you, so be prepared….*sigh*
Ohhh, me too!
Mel
I’ll do the best I can to bring home some really juicy ones.
Have you been called a “garbacho” yet? My new word from reading Tortilla Curtain. ( slang for American/Gringo) Don’t know if it is reserved only for guys…
K+G, I vote for a book based off of your best posts.
You really have some great stories to tell!!
Katie and Garrett – What wonderful adventures you are having. We feel like we are right there with you. Great pictures and writing. Shirlee is the sister of Sylvia (DeSpain) Hendricks – a long time friend of your Mom, Penny. We have also passed your blog site onto our uncle, Tom DeSpain who is an adventurer himself and we know he will live every moment with you also. Cheers!!
Welcome aboard!
So sweet of you to read and lead a comment. Glad to hear that you’re enjoying the adventures. All are welcome for sure.
Happy new year!
